What’s the secret to taking a great photograph? 

Experience…. Anyone can call themselves a photographer, that’s why it can be overwhelming choosing who to hire. Look for experience. We have been photographing people professionally since 2006 and we know how to make even the most camera shy people feel comfortable, look great, and have photos that they are proud to show everyone. We plan our sessions with clients in detail, our photography is relaxed and fun, and the results speak for themselves. We are a full service studio – we offer the digitals and we also love to design and print artwork. We guide our clients every step of the way. What do you love most about your job?

I pinch myself everyday even after all these years, that I get to do what I love everyday.  I have a wonderful team of photographers that help capture beautiful professional photographs for our clients. I started Total Capture in 2006 and I have worked as a full time professional photographer ever since. I truely love what I do. I love capturing personal photos (families, weddings) just as much as commercial photography helping businesses take their brands to the next level.  I love the variety it brings. Meeting different people everyday, taking different photos for different reasons in different locations. My business has taken me all over Australia and also overseas.  In 2016 I photographed a health retreat in the Greek Islands and Bali. I have run a photography studio in Melbourne from 2006-2016 when I relocated to Adelaide where I now reside with my husband and children..

What inspired you to start your own business?

Childhood and the unregulated industry… I have always had a curiosity about photography – a passion for capturing stories, moments in time, ever since I was a little girl. My dad captured the everyday stories of my childhood so well I am forever grateful of the power of photography. Especially around family photography as kids grow up so fast. It’s very important to capture everyone at every age. I fell in love with the technical side of photography in the darkroom at high school and started my business (Total Capture) when I was just 19 years old and I’ve never looked back. It fills my heart with so much joy to be able to create professional quality photographs for so many people. 
It is unfortunately an unregulated industry – and that sparks my passion even more to deliver *quality* photography. People are trusting us to make them feel at ease, capture flattering and fun and natural photos of them, and to have quality professional results that last generations. That is why it breaks my heart to hear stories of people unsatisfied with past photography experiences. It sparks a fire inside me to deliver quality professional photography to as many people we can reach with our team of photographers.
